Google Play screenshot requirements.

Understand Google Play screenshot requirements, feature graphic dimensions, and how to prepare truthful, legible store assets.

Google Play uses a mix of flexible screenshot ranges and exact asset sizes. Its rules are not an exclusive list of phone resolutions. The presets below are convenient starting points; your app’s form factor determines which additional rules apply.

General screenshots and custom dimensions.

General screenshot guidance accepts JPEG or 24-bit PNG without alpha, with each side between 320 and 3840 pixels and the longer side no more than twice the shorter side. Portrait, landscape and square can all fit these general rules. A listing needs at least two screenshots across device types, with a maximum of eight screenshots per device type.

For phone screenshots, ShotFleet lets you choose a common preset or valid custom dimensions. A preset such as 1080 × 1920 is useful, but it is not the only accepted Google Play resolution. Custom sizes are checked against the selected family’s constraints; exact-size assets such as the feature graphic do not become freely resizable.

Common presets by asset and device.

Phone

1080 × 1920 portrait; 1920 × 1080 landscape

Common 9:16 / 16:9 presets. Other sizes can satisfy the general range.

7-inch tablet

1440 × 2560 portrait; 2560 × 1440 landscape

Common presets. Large-screen guidance: 1080–7680 px, 9:16 / 16:9.

10-inch tablet / Samsung tablet

1440 × 2560 portrait; 2560 × 1440 landscape

Common presets, not a Samsung-specific required resolution.

Chromebook

1440 × 2560 portrait; 2560 × 1440 landscape

Common presets. Match the actual app experience; large-screen guidance applies.

Wear OS / watch face

384 × 384 square

Minimum square example. At least 384 × 384; show only the app UI, without a device frame.

Android TV screenshot

1920 × 1080 landscape

Common preset. This source does not require one exclusive TV screenshot size.

Android Automotive OS

800 × 1280 portrait; 1024 × 768 landscape

Exact sizes. If supplied, at least two of each orientation; use generic system UI.

Android XR

1920 × 1200 minimum; 3840 × 2400 recommended

8:5 landscape. Four to eight screenshots; maximum 8 MB per file.

Feature graphic

1024 × 500 landscape

Exact size; separate from the screenshot set.

Android TV banner

1280 × 720 landscape

Exact banner size; additional asset for Android TV apps.

Tablets and Chromebook have additional guidance.

Google’s tablet and Chromebook section specifies 9:16 portrait or 16:9 landscape, dimensions from 1080 to 7680 pixels, and guidance to provide at least four screenshots. This is published alongside the general 320–3840 pixel rule on the same page. ShotFleet preserves the family-specific range for these custom sizes; do not assume the generic maximum is the only large-screen limit.

Capture the actual tablet or Chromebook interface. Google advises excluding extra text outside the core experience because screenshots can be cropped on Play homepages. A Samsung tablet mockup is a design choice, not a separate Google Play specification.

Recommendation eligibility is a separate check.

For screenshot recommendation surfaces, Google specifies at least four app screenshots or three game screenshots, with a minimum 1080 × 1920 portrait or 1920 × 1080 landscape resolution and a 9:16 or 16:9 aspect ratio. These conditions are separate from the general upload minimum.

Some form factors need a different presentation.

  • Wear OS: show the app interface or watch face only. No extra marketing text, device frame, background outside the UI, transparency or masking.
  • Automotive: use generic system UI rather than a specific vehicle brand or model. When screenshots are supplied, provide the required portrait and landscape set. Parked-app categories have different optionality rules.
  • Android XR: use 8:5 landscape screenshots with the specified minimum dimensions, count and file-size limit.
  • TV and feature assets: keep the 1280 × 720 TV banner and 1024 × 500 feature graphic separate from the screenshot set.

Review the exported files before upload.

Drag in your source screens, select the intended output families and review their final crops. A phone layout stretched into a landscape banner usually needs its own composition. Confirm that each image matches the target listing language and truthfully represents the current app.

These rules were checked against the official Google Play preview asset guidance on September 30, 2026. Console uploads were not exercised for every profile. Check the live Console and current instructions for your app; passing a size check does not guarantee acceptance.

All supported output sizes and languages are free for every project. See what’s included.
